Gsoc contributor 2026

Hello everyone,

My name is Mouli Saraf and I am an undergraduate student interested in contributing to OpenAstronomy for Google Summer of Code.

I have experience with Python and C++, and I am currently exploring the Astropy project. I am particularly interested in the idea related to improving Astropy’s core stability and would like to start contributing by working on beginner issues.

I am currently reading the contributor documentation and setting up the development environment. I would appreciate any guidance on good first issues or areas where new contributors can help.

Thank you!

Best regards,
mouli

My name is Tahmina, I’m a student developer based in the US. I’m applying to GSoC 2026 with OpenAstronomy.

I’ve already made my first contribution — I ran the Bexvar notebook, fixed the missing ultranest dependency issue, and submitted a PR.

My background is in Python, data analysis, and building interactive dashboards. I’m passionate about space science and would love to contribute to tools used by real astronomers.

I’d love any guidance on what to work on next and which project ideas are most active for GSoC 2026. Thank you!
