Help needed: astrophysics tutorial ideas for teens

Hi everyone,

My 12-year-old son wants to be an astrophysicist. I’m encouraging him by introducing him to (or exploring with him) concepts and news in this field.

As part of my job, I work with econometrics and do quite a bit of statistics in general, but my physics knowledge dates back to my engineering studies. I’ve shown my son examples of statistical modeling in economics, and he’s really gotten into it. I’d like to do the same with astrophysics. I have some ideas, but I’m not quite sure how to put them into practice. For example, I think it might be fun to try to “rediscover” Neptune based on Uranus’s deviations from Newton’s equations. Maybe also color analysis to classify stars?

What do you think? Do you have any ideas? Among the existing tutorials, which ones would be both the most fun and the most accessible?

Any ideas and suggestions are welcome.
